The Wolves kicked off the 2015 with an impressive 27-15 win over the Doncaster Mustangs. Lloyd Dignan had an impressive afternoon as he scored all 4 touchdowns including an 85 yard kick return.
Head Coach Don Edmonston is delighted that the side got of to a winning start, something they’ve struggled to do in recent years.
“As notoriously slow starters, I’m delighted to open the 2015 season with a home win. I was impressed with the rookies that got game time, especially safety Jason Gray who had a great game and had an interception in his first start.
Whether it was fatigue, inexperience or just lax play, we slowed in the 3rd quarter and gave the Mustangs a glimmer of hope. To make the playoffs we must cut out the mistakes, poor discipline and just play like we know we can.
Ejike Wosu led the defence by example and recorded 3 and a half sacks while last year’s rookie of the year, Lloyd Dignan, scored 4 touchdowns including a brilliant kick return. Overall a wins a win, but we need to play a lot better to even consider playoffs.”
The Wolves are back in action at home next Sunday as the Merseyside Nighthawks visit Meadowbank in what will be a repeat of last season’s BritBowl Final.
