The Wolves team will hope the carry some of the momentum from last weekend’s 48-0 victory over the Aberdeen Roughnecks as they travel this Sunday to Greenock where they will take on The West Coast Trojans.
The 2-2 Wolves will also hope to avenge the defeat they suffered at the Trojan’s hands earlier in the season, losing out a thrilling game 46-39.
In that last encounter the Wolves had a disastrous first 20 minutes allowing the Trojans to race off to a 22-0 lead before valiantly fighting back and losing by just 8 points.
With both sides capable of scoring a lot of points, this game will likely come down to which defensive side can perform better. The Wolves will need to stop Trojans running back Jordan Falconer possibly one of the fastest men in the British League, they also must outwit veteran quarterback Gary McNey if they are to have any chance of beating the Trojans and making a push for the playoffs.
QB Jamie Morrison was back on form last weekend and as well as a top defensive performance the Wolves will be looking to him to lead the offensive attack with a similar level of performance as he’s shown at Meadowbank this season.
Head Coach Don Edmonston knows how important a victory is this weekend
“we know our playoff hopes rest on a great result against the Trojans. We fell apart in the first 10 minutes of the first game at Meadowbank and gifted too many points. We must ensure that we get off to a flier this time as well as playing solid defense for the full 60 minutes. We’ve shown we can score and we’ve shown we can defend with two shutouts this season. This weekend we need to aim to do both!”
