The Edinburgh Wolves crashed to a 20-42 defeat at the hands of the Merseyside Nighthawks last Sunday as the 2014 champions visited Meadowbank. A good crowd was in attendance for an entertaining game which had huge plays, huge runs, great interceptions and demonstrated the high standard in the BAFA set up.
Head Coach Don Edmonston was disappointed with the defeat, however is already focused on the next game.
“National Champions, the Merseyside Nighthawks rolled into Meadowbank 7 months after the National Final and looked even more polished than when they won the title.
Merseyside have some great young talent and I see them once again making a long playoff run. As for the Wolves we have to learn from our mistakes, watch film and get our injured players back as soon as possible. I felt we were rusty and hadnt been best prepared, which as HC, I take responsibility for.
Our next game is away to Chester Romans on may 10th. They are an improved team so we will not underestimate them.
The players and staff are rightly disappointed after the loss but as I said after the game, in the history of this sport at any level, no team has won or lost a championship on game 2.”
