June Kicks Off With Visit to Clyde Valley

The Edinburgh Wolves head along the M8 on Sunday June 1st to play the unbeaten division leaders, Clyde Valley Blackhawks. “This is a big game for us” Wolves Hc Don Edmonston commented,”We need to get back to winning ways after the recent defeat at the hands of the Trojans”

The Blackhawks are undefeated in 3 games so far this season and have the number one points scoring offense in the UK at this time. The Wolves defense will be tested and need to make the adjustments to slow down the high scoring Blackhawks offense led by QB Nicky Farrell. Farrell has dominated every defence he has faced so far with his unpredictable running style and accurate passing.

The Wolves offense has also stepped up, scoring 39 against the Trojans, and having 1 td chalked off, and they will be looking to carry on in the same vein. Rookie WR Lloyd Dignan made a sensational debut scoring 3 touchdowns against the Trojans and showed why offensive coordinator Dan Cameron had faith to throw him in at the deep end.

The game is a 2.30 kick off at Beltane Park in Wishaw, hopefully the weather is good and the teams get some support on the day. A win for the Wolves could prove to be the spark they need to push on and battle to win back the Division title they won in 2010 & 2012.

June 15th is Father’s day and also the Wolves next home game against BAFA newcomers Aberdeen Roughnecks. But even more importantly it’s the Wolves annual Calum Veitch Memorial game in honour of Calum Veitch, a former Wolves Youth team player who sadly passed away in 2011. The Wolves retired Calums #52 shirt and have held a minute’s applause on the home game closest to his anniversary every year since.

The Wolves Junior team will also be playing the Clackmannanshire Ravens at Meadowbank in a 12 o’clock kick off while the seniors kick off at 2.30. The Juniors played the Ravens recently but the Ravens forfeited the game at half time when the Wolves were 54-0 up against their fellow rookie team.

Entry is £4 which includes a full colour programme; there will be mic’d up referees, hot food and merchandise on sale so hopefully we will see you at Meadowbank Stadium on the 15th!
