Since the end of 2006, the Edinburgh Wolves have turned their home field of Meadowbank Stadium into somewhat of a fortress. In the past 2 years alone, the Wolves state a 9-2 record at home, leading them to 2 consecutive Championship final games. Having previously played at Jack Kane Sports Centre prior to 2006, the Wolves could not give the game day experience that many other clubs could. Don Edmonston came in and made the move to the new home at Meadowbank.
10 Years on and it is time to move on once more. Meadowbank is due to imminently undergo a £41m redevelopment to bring the 1970 Commonwealth Games Stadium in line with today’s very different needs. The Wolves have thanked Meadowbank for all their help over the past 10 years however the committee has found a new state of the art facility that will be a far better suit to the organisation.
Meggetland Stadium boasts a 500 seater stand, having previously been home to Edinburgh Rugby and are delighted to have the Edinburgh Wolves as their new tenant. The Wolves will be providing a game day BBQ, merchandise stall and a bar that will remain open throughout the game. Calum Buchan, who was instrumental in securing the new facility had this to say:
“Moving to Meggetland is a great step for the club, we have been with Edinburgh Leisure for our entire existence and thanks to them we have been able to continue that relationship. I’d also like to thank Boroughmuir Rugby club for their help and support as we move in. Hopefully this will lead to the Wolves having the best game day experience in the country.”
