On Saturday the Edinburgh Wolves will face off against the Manchester Titans at Meggetland.
The Titans currently sit in 3rd place in the division standings with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss (2 wins have been awarded after Clyde Valley Blackhawks withdrew from the league at the last minute).
Manchester are somewhat of a surprise package this year having gained promotion from division 2 thanks to a punishing rushing attack. In the playoffs last year they embarrassed Aberdeen with a comprehensive 54-7 victory.
Many pundits thought they might struggle in division 1 however in the first game of the season they easily defeated the Yorkshire Rams 25-8.
They followed that up with another victory cruising past Gateshead Senators with a 46-0 rout.
However in their most recent game they were narrowly defeated by the Yorkshire Rams losing 32-20.
With a strong contingent of running backs and big wide receivers, this game against the Titans will be a real test for the Wolves as they look to stay on top in the division.
The Wolves have had a longer lay off between games after soundly beating West Coast Trojans in the opening game at Meggetland.
This promises to be a very close encounter with the Titans looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season and the Wolves hoping to keep the momentum going and move to 5-0.
Veteran wide receiver Callum Innes knows the stakes are high “ With Yorkshire and Manchester both close on our heels it’s important that we come away with victories at home. That being said Manchester are a great side and they won’t make it easy for us,we will need to be up to the challenge from kick off until the final whistle.”
With a BBQ a fully licensed bar as well as live commentary and music during the game, this will be a fantastic day out for the family.
Kick-off is at 2pm.
